Five Decades of Family Farms

Founded in 1967 by Joe Muller Sr., a Swiss immigrant, Muller Ranch is now being run by the third generation of Muller family farmers. Today, Joe’s sons Louis, Frank, and Tom and grandsons Colin C and Colin T help Muller Ranch continue to lead the way for 21st century California farming practices. Muller’s sunflower bloom attracts hundreds of visitors and photographers every day in the summer.

Producing More With Less & Doing It Sustainably

Muller Ranch grows over a dozen crops annually including tomatoes, peppers, sunflowers, cucumbers, garlic, millet, alfalfa, corn, wheat, almonds, walnuts, olives, wine grapes, garbanzo beans, and specialty seeds. Muller Ranch also offers consulting services with an outstanding reputation in environmental restoration, habitat management, and invasive weed eradication. Muller Ranch participates in UC Davis’ Century Experiment (formerly the Long Term Research on Agricultural Sustainability) that measures the long-term impacts of crop rotation and farming systems on agricultural sustainability. Muller Ranch collaborates with 2 to 3 UC Davis graduate students annually on agricultural research projects.

Our Home in Woodland

“The climate, water, soil, workforce… plus, you don’t find this concentration of seed research anywhere else. Woodland is unique.” -Frank Muller, Part-Owner of Muller Ranch
