The Zeldner Family honey business began in Winters, California in 1979 as Moon Shine Trading Company. Z Specialty moved to Woodland, California in 1998 and today operates out of 9,000 square feet on Harter Avenue near Interstate 5.
Z Specialty sources its honey largely from California, but also offers honeys from states such as North Dakota, Washington, Hawaii, and Florida. Z Specialty produces over 30 varietal honeys and its bulk packaged honey is used by almost every restaurant in the Greater Sacramento area.
Z Specialty is in the process of building a brand new facility in Woodland, complete with a proper tasting room, event space, bee gardens, and a brewery and meadery. “We hope to bring some color to Woodland,” says Josh Zeldner. “We want to become a destination.”
