Now Open: The Lab@AgStart

Woodland’s AgStart incubator partnered with The Food Front and a diverse coalition of public and private funders to open The Lab@AgStart, a state-of-the-art lab, kitchen, and co-working space in Downtown Woodland. The Lab@AgStart is the largest shared-use wet lab facility for startups in California’s entire Central Valley and the only location in Northern California with wet lab, food lab, and coworking facilities. This new space will draw entrepreneurs and scientists from the region and beyond to Woodland, a city leading the way for food, ag, and health innovation.

Pollination Hub

The Food Front’s unique concentration of industry partners, ideal climate, local initiatives, and education resources put us at the heart of California’s pollination industry. Woodland is working hard to make sure pollinators – and the food, business, and research they fuel – remain happy and healthy.

SacTown Bites

Initially launched as a walking food tour company, SacTown Bites has furthered its reach by partnering with some of the finest Yolo and Sacramento County farmers, chefs, and makers to bring local food subscription boxes to our community’s doorsteps.

Since the launch of these food subscription boxes in mid 2020, the City of Woodland partnered with SacTown Bites to support this initiative by creating connections with Woodland’s Food Front partners (food & ag businesses). To date, several of our Woodland Food Front partners’ products have been showcased within these rotating subscription boxes alongside some of Yolo & Sacramento County’s finest products. This partnership continues to help support the livelihood of all participating businesses, including those in Woodland, by generating exposures to what our local food & ag scene has to offer – one subscription box at a time.

Want to try out your first box? Sign up now. Each month will bring you a new array of tasty treats and award-wining flavors.

Are you a Food Front partner interested in being included in these subscription boxes? Contact SacTown Bites.

Canvas on Oil

Woodland’s olive oil is a staple product, grown locally and distributed nationally. The Canvas on Oil project helped launch The Food Front in 2017. Brought to life with the help of Kinetic Ideas and Cobram Estate’s extra virgin olive oil bottles during Woodland’s annual Dinner on Main, the mural captures the community pride at the core of The Food Front.

Each bottles represents what The Food Front has become: original, influential and inspiring.

Woodland’s Dinner on Main

Celebrating our region’s diverse food and ag landscape, Woodland’s Dinner on Main attracts over 500 guests for a hand-crafted meal featuring freshly picked ingredients paired with a variety of locally produced wine and beer. Farmers and growers, restaurant owners, business people, and community stakeholders partner to host an event that promotes the connection between farming, food, health, and local economies.
